The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a Red Flag
Warning due to strong winds and low relative humidity, which is
in effect from 10 AM MST /11 AM MDT/ to 7 PM MST /8 PM MDT/
Monday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.
* AFFECTED AREA...Locations near Chinle, Dilkon, Eagar-
Springerville, Holbrook, Kayenta, Kykotsmovi, Prescott, Prescott
Valley, Saint Johns, Seligman, Shonto, Snowflake-Taylor, Tuba
City, Valle, and Winslow.
* WINDS...Southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts 45 to 55 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...5 to 15 percent.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that start will have the potential to
rapidly grow in size and intensity before first responders can
contain them.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring or are imminent. A combination of strong
winds and low relative humidities can contribute to extreme fire
behavior.

A Vermont university has bestowed the honorary degree of “doctor of litter-ature” on a cat named Max who has become a beloved member of its community. Vermont State University’s Castleton campus is honoring the feline ahead of students' graduation Saturday for his friendliness. The school says in a Facebook post that “Max the Cat has been an affectionate member of the Castleton family for years." The popular tabby lives in a house with his human family on the street that leads to the main entrance to campus. His owner reports he's been socializing on campus for about four years. A first-year U.S. Naval Academy student has stood victorious on classmates' shoulders and placed an upperclassman’s cap atop the Herndon Monument after a grueling, slippery struggle. The Class of 2027 worked together Wednesday to scale the 21-foot obelisk covered in vegetable shortening to replace a white plebe “Dixie cup hat” with an upperclassman’s hat. After the climb is complete, they’re called fourth class midshipmen. This year the climb took two hours, 19 minutes and 11 seconds. The shortest time for is believed to be 1 minute, 30 seconds in 1969. The monument wasn't greased that year. The longest was more than four hours in 1995. Dorothy Jean Tillman's participation in Arizona State University’s May 6 commencement was the latest step on a higher-education journey the Chicago teen started when she took her first college course at age 10. In between came associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s degrees. When Tillman successfully defended her dissertation in December at age 17, she became the youngest person to earn a doctoral degree in integrated behavioral health at Arizona State. While being homeschooled, Tillman's mother enrolled her in the College of Lake County in Illinois. In 2018, Tillman earned a bachelor’s in humanities from New York’s Excelsior College.
